Tumors, Paolillo (Merck): "5 thousand users at the stands of the 'Don't beat around the bush' campaign"

“Prevention has become crucial for all companies focused and dedicated to patient care”. With the 'Non girarci intorno' campaign “there is the idea of being able to take a trip together with the Giro d'Italia, known everywhere, by all citizens. During the 18 stages we brought awareness to bladder cancer. Over 5 thousand users approached our stand and filled out a short questionnaire to understand what they know about bladder cancer, which is the second leading cause of cancer of the urogenital tract after prostate cancer. Although citizens know enough about this type of cancer, unfortunately, less than half of them take prevention”. This was stated in Rome by Andrea Paolillo, medical director of Merck Italia, on the occasion of the final stage of the 'Non girarci intorno' tour, promoted by Merck. An awareness campaign on urothelial cancer that is linked to the Giro d'Italia, of which Merck is an official partner. "Today it is increasingly necessary and fundamental to be able to carry out prevention campaigns - Paolillo underlines - because unfortunately the date of onset of tumors has drastically reduced. We know the main causes and the main elements responsible for tumors: smoking is the first incriminated among bladder tumors". Raising awareness and spreading knowledge is fundamental and "Merck wants to be alongside citizens with this active prevention campaign, in a wonderful context like that of the Giro d'Italia", he concludes.
